Iran, Bush, and Public Opinion
Over the weekend, the US made its case about Iranian involvement in Iraq, but their evidence was received with a great deal of skepticism. Public opinion, both domestically and internationally, is heavily influenced by what was said in the build-up to Iraq, and short of an Iranian official standing up and saying, “Yes, we’re supplying arms and trying to fuel the violence”, it’s hard to imagine anything strong enough to overcome the Bush administration’s lack of credibility.
Would an Austrian shipment of guns making it to the Iraqi streets within 45 days of arriving in the hands of the Iranian government make any difference?
Even more to the point: would the public’s opinion be swayed by evidence that didn’t come from the Bush administration? More here.

Btw, because of the cacophony of informations on all possible topics, I almost forgot this info:
“Marine Gen. Peter Pace, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said yesterday that he has no information indicating Iran’s government is directing the supply of lethal weapons to Shiite insurgent groups in Iraq.”
Well, wtf? Pace obviously hasn’t seen the evidence on the Iranian sniper rifles showing up in Iraq. Imho this puts the story in an even more fuzzy light. Really, does this evidence even exist?
