  1. Uh, this Finkelstein guy is supposed to be funny? When and where does he show that?
    “Never order the fish”
A serious, good advice. I never did that.
“There’s always enough to make a mess.”
Another variant of ‘murphy’s law’. Maybe this was funny 50 years ago.
“Never read a book or watch a film that has been recommended by Noam Chomsky.”
Another example of right wingers who don”t want to be bothered with ideas that might question their world view. There lot’s of ignorants on the right behaving that way. They don’t need this ‘advice’.

I would add as a seious rule:
‘Never forget that the London Times is a right wing publication belonging to the Murdoch Empire.’

    But where’s the joke, goddammit?

  2. Uh, lighten up, Gray.

  3. “Uh, lighten up, Gray.”
How? Where’s the joke? Did you find it?
    :P

  4. Yeah, it wasn’t great humor, but it was mildly funny. The Chomsky remark is no different than someone on the left making a snarky remark about Fox News. That doesn’t mean that people on the left are afraid to listen to something that is contrary to their views, it means that they recognize that when something is completely one sided it is basically propaganda. We on the right feel the same way about left leaning propagandists. For the record though, I do sometimes read Chomsky because I want to know what people like that think. I happen to think it’s important to challenge one’s views; if they don’t stand up to that challenge then something is wrong.

  5. “Uh, lighten up, Gray.
Gray – Look at the comment section, this is a right of center blog.
I am waiting for the “Soros Prize” by someone here at TMV ;).

  6. Gray – Look at the comment section, this is a right of center blog.

Hah, Rudi, I’d say that left leaning bloggers outnumber the right leaning ones. But perhaps your comment indicates that the right side makes its points more effectively ;-)

  7. CS I was referring to the Times blog. On the subject of TMV leaning left or right, I say it’s still moderate. Go to BallonJuice if you want to see a Centrist blog with a majority of Lefty commenters. The discourse at BJ is also sharper and at times vicious. Most commenters at TMV tend to sing to the crowd: elrod, shaun, DS and MichS trend left; MarcS, MvdG and JS tend left, the comments tend to trend the frontpagers sentiments. This site is still MODERATE with frontpagers/commenters on both sides.

  8. OK, I see what you were saying now, Rudi. And my point about TMV is just that I think that the left side commenters outnumber the right side ones. And, right sided commentary is examined more critically than left sided posts and comments IMO. Not complaining though, it makes for an interesting challenge because I like to hone my debating skills :-)

  9. CS I have to disagree, do elrod, Shaun or DS write with the hyperbole of MarcS. I don’t see the Lefties at TMV attacking Schaife as a drunk or Nazis sympasizer(sp). I remember being group with Gray and KR awhile back and responded with the ‘Axis of Weevil’ or something. Your side is just as guilty of biased comments as us Weevils. Go to BJ and compare the comments at both sites, TMV is both Moderate and civil. Besides, untill the November election your side had a hegemony on power in Washington and the states. A good press and Goreosphere questions the party in power, being cheerleaders isn’t good press or GS.

  10. Shaun and MS write with a huge amount of hyperbole. The others you mentioned, not so much. But other than me, most commenters never call them on it, while the right leaning posts like Marc’s get roundly criticized. Again, I’m not trying to whine about it…just calling it like I see it.

  11. Heraclitis OK, but not MS. Now what about:
It Can Happen Here: Elie Wiesel Attacked by Holocaust Denier
Pasting a ahck piece ala Dan Pipe.
    Who Is George Soros?
Taking TNR and NYT out of context.

  12. From BJ via Reason, those tolerant moderates at LGF:
    http://www.reason.com/blog/show/118664.html

So, 3000 wasted, yo, O’bomba, about the Buffalo Troops who went after the uncivil war out west with Gen. Sherman, your “Black History” studies did it include the facts of the Apache babies who were taken by the heels by said troops and the scull cracked on the rocks of the fire pits, and the women raped and then set on fire.

Yes, the ‘Axis of Weevils’ are so bad.

  13. To come back to topic, what is supposed to be funny in this story? Even if I exchange the Noam Chomsky prize for the Bill Buckley prize, I still can’t find anything humorous to it.
Well, must be some kind of cultural difference…
