Maybe its more understandable why the leftys here were suspicious that a softer, kinder Gingrich would &quot;Newter&quot; the Democratic party and return to his former self as a cut-throat partisan. 		<description>I was one who expressed respect for Newt&#039;s policy ideas. But his lesser angels are in control and he is using his talents as a divider not a uniter.
I would have preferred him to lead the effort to reach out to moderate Democrats to craft and promote trans-ideological solutions.</description>

Interesting to see how quickly he abandoned his &quot;conciliatory approach&quot; to reveal his true self: a hardliner whose political instincts are always to go for the jugular. This is the real Newt, ruthless and power hungry,  we Democrats know and love!</description>
