It’s really not a “botched joke” but some would like to spin it into one.
And look at how (via Fox News) this is jumped upon to turn it into the latest frenzied news byte controversy — one that will suck up air time and print space. Fox News takes a swipe at the national press corps for raising it — when they raise it — but we suspect this clip will be re-run over and over at Fox. Watch for talkers such as Sean, Rush, etc. and other commentors to make this The Big Issue Of The Day when it comes to Hillary Clinton. Another example of how American politics and the news media that covers it invariably veers away from issues:

I used to try and watch Fox to keep in touch with the ‘enemy’. However the phony ‘War on Christmas/Christians’ stories put an end to extended visits. The other day a Fox talking head started talking about an incident in the East, maybe it was Philly. It seems a bugalar has a foot fetish, the talking head went into detail about ‘toes’, ‘feet’ and ‘su**ing’. This is waht Faux News considers as a relavent story? This would be an unacceptable story even in a small market local news show.

Of course it’s absurd that the media focuses on such petty idiocies. It’s absurd when Fox does it, and it’s absurd when CNN and the New York Times and all the rest of the media does it. Remember how much buzz there was about George Bush’s pronunciation of the word “nuclear”?
