This president and his ‘government’ are in a fantasy world that, unfortunately, directly influences our own (reality). They actually frighten me and I’m sure many others with their fantasies. I am afraid they will blow up the world with the aid of those who blindly follow them. I have the distinct feeling that the wild rumors of war with Iran are not smoke in the wind but a very real possibility. That would be a disaster beyond anything that Iraq ever will be.
From what I’ve read, the same could be said of Craig Venter, Steve Jobs, etc, not to mention ordinary parents who elect to have children even though they are living in unimaginably difficult war zones.
The “reality-based community” idea really gained traction with that Ron Suskind piece a few years back, but I don’t think this is that unusual as a leadership style.
“a government that makes policy by positive self-affirmation.”
Hmm, ok, Joe. But to describe this ‘government’, I prefer phrases like ‘driven by unsubstantiated optimism’, ‘acting on irrational insticts’, ‘governing out of the bubble’ or the like.
“I don’t think this is that unusual as a leadership style.”
Not among dictators and fanaticals, no. But I propose you read a good history book to get the difference to good governing. JFK and Roosevelt come to mind. As a republican example, how about Eisenhower?
something is wrong with that Pelosi comeback comment, unless Pelosi has a habbit of using the 3rd person instead of the 2nd, which I’d have to say, beat the hell out of Bob Dole for creative grammar.
The first quote by pelosi herself should be enough.
For some people, their blind faith in either their own abilities or a higher power lead them to greatness.
For others, it just leads them to hit bottom and keep on digging.
