One More Take

Yesterday, the Web was filled with myriad memories of and tributes to Dr. King. After reading several of them, I was compelled to spend time last night evaluating the great civil rights leader’s impact on my life and family. At the encouragement of others, I’m sharing the results of that intro/extrospection, trusting that one more take is not one take too many or too late.

Come on folks just follow Pete’s link, you’ll be glad you did, or better yet, Pete (Joe?) would / could you cross post it here?

Thanks again Pete… your story made my day.

Pete Abel, you’ve written a nice essay.

I think, myself, that the real issue for me is: Do we look for the ultimate good and humanity in our fellow man, and strive to treat each other equally, as King called us to do in his “I have a dream” speech; or do we follow some other approach to get even for whatever we believe we have suffered in the past? Before any of us gets too comfortable with revenge and ‘I want mine,’ consider how effectively this can be used against us in the future, and possibly the near future. None of us is perfect, but we can all try harder to be better. Thank you for sharing your family’s experiences. You are a fine role model for children, grandchildren, neighbors etc. A fine essay. Thank you.
