President George Bush’s Favorite Words

The media and critics have noted that President George Bush has favorite words. During the 2004 Presidential campaign debates it was “hard work.” And since Hurricane Katrina if he ever tells a cabinet appointee or aide he’s doing “a heck of a job” that person needs to start updating his/her resume.

The latest that has been notably used repeatedly? “Unacceptable.”

And another favorite: “decisions.”

“Unacceptable…decisions”….? Polls suggest a sizeable chunk of the American public would agree with that…

He also used “comprehensive” quite a bit when describing his ill-fated immigration proposal.

Another one is the “I don’t appreciate it” line, part threat part hubris, part parental bull, like the whole world needs his approval and France, Kerry or the voters should feel chastened if we “disappoint” him. What a jerk.

“I don’t appreciate the speculation about Don Rumsfeld; he’s doing a fine job”

“I honor their sacrifices. And I don’t appreciate it when a candidate for president denigrates the contributions of these brave soldiers.”

But I don’t appreciate those who leak classified documents.

“Heh-heh,” Bush said. “I’m talking about gettin’ the facts and lettin’ them know we don’t appreciate it and there’s a serious consequence … And I’ll decide what that consequence is.”
