If you go to school in Minnesota, and did not originally hail from a southern state which thinks ice doesn’t occur in nature, not owning a pair of ice skates is a crime punishable by excommunication.

I seriously need to go ice skating. As you may have noticed from reading other threads, I am in desperate need of the relaxative effect. It is simply impossible to remain pissed at people given a good dose of cold air, snow, ice, and endorphines.

We are an ice skating family, tho from Maryland. I grew up in Long Island, NY, and have great memories of skating on frozen ponds in the winter with my girlfriends.
My daughter has taken lessons for almost 10 years and still occasionally competes.
We actually went to a mall in Quebec 2 years ago that had a huge open rink below all of the stores where you could skate all day for a couple of bucks while everyone shopped over your head- it was heaven!
Uhmmm we got a minor league hockey team here in Huntsville, and had one for over 15 years. Our local college UAH has won sevaral D2 national titles in hockey, and we’ve suffered many crippling ice storms. So I’d amend the idea we’ve never seen ice in nature. You probably mean South as in near the Gulf coast.
Alabama hockey teams. Now that’s just not right….
