Interesting turn of events for the talking point of 2000 to fight the perception of the word “is is. So the light on the hill this administration claimed to bring to the White House was all bluster and no substance.

It might be the second coming of Watergate. Some of the same figures are around now- most importantly Ford's old chief of staff Dick Cheney. He's probably learned what to destroy and how to obstruct investigations from the Watergate years.

I wonder how GOP Congresspersons will react to the White House campaign to frustrate Congressional oversight. Bush et al might succeed at beating the rap, but the stench is likely to get overwhelming.

Admittedly this is probably wishful thinking on my part, but it sure seems a real possibility that the entire GOP will become like a sinking ship. I think that's what people like Chris Shea, Jeff Flake, and Joe Scarborough are seeing.

The only qualification anything in our current government needs to be considered top secret or deserving of being buried is the ability to embarrass Bush or his people. Conservatives constantly harp on the need for people to be held accountable. The only way for that to happen in our political system is for it to have the greatest amount of transparency consistent with keeping truly important secrets for real reasons of national security. This administration has gone further than any other before it (With the possible exception of Nixon.) to attempt to destroy this building block of democracy.
