Why not just get a replica of the painting? Seems to me that they whole “art collection” is very seperable from “artistic value”. The value of the art isn’t lost in reporduction, just the monitary ‘collector’s’ value. I’d rather see a low income housing development be put up or other tangible good rather than a glorified stamp collection.

As a former Philadelphian who has a great deal of affection for the place, and as someone who utterly, completely and wholeheartedly *adores* the Philly Art Museum, I am ecstatic to hear this, and very, very proud of my old hometown.
