As someone who has been going to NYC for 40 years, and went to college there, I would say that it is about as lovely, safe, pleasant, and fun as it has ever been. Between Giuliani and Bloomberg, it has come a long way up from 1975.

Too much American politics is driven by fear caused simply by unfamiliarity with the larger world around us.

How much could the world benefit if we all realized that small-town values, or big-city values, or Christian values, or Muslim values, or whatever, are all very much the same.

They are human values.

If only we would see it.
