Man… you’d be suprised at some of the disdain that some of those on the extreme right have for Mr. Jefferson… I guess that that “wall of separation” thing is antithetical to their cause…
“Dissent is the highest form of Patriotismâ€? – Thomas Jefferson
Jefferson never said that, at least not that anyone can show. It was anarcho-pacifist Dorothy Hewitt Hutchinson who first said something quite like it in 1965, and ACLU president Nadine Strossen who has continually mis-attributed it to Jefferson since at least 1991.
I think it would be hilarious to ask Goode if he would swear in on the “Jefferson Bible.” I don’t think much of Ellison either, but every time Goode opens his mouth Ellison slices his tongue and pours a little lemon juice on it, and in the most entertaining fashion.
“The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions, that I wish it to be always kept alive. It will often be exercised when wrong, but better so than not to be exercised at all. I like a little rebellion now and then.
Oh that soooo rocks! Go ahead, Goode, call Jefferson unpatriotic, I DARE you!
Style and wit, well done Mr. Ellison!
Jefferson wasn’t a Christian either so I suppose Goode will see this as an even worse slap in the face of god fearing Americans.
