Obviously, I disagree with the first two 'arguments' (second argument, see AP's own 'rules' and defense), but can partially agree with the last one. That 'argument' however, doesn't mean that it isn't worth investigating. When a news agency is fabricating stories and sources, it is a very serious breach of ethical behavior for journalists. And this is not just 'a' news agency, it's the AP. That makes it even more serious.
