Ah, those wonderful Judeo-Christian concepts... A few years ago PBS aired a program titled: "Matters of Race". In it there was the following quote attributed to a Lakota Shaman:

"Religion is for people who are scared of going to hell. Spirituality is for people who have been there."

When I hear people like Mr. Goode talking like he has been, followed by his declaration of faith and belief in "Almighty God" this quote always comes to mind.

And the sad part is that in Mr. Goode’s district, he received almost total support for his position from his constituents! Fellow Americans- meet your neighbors!

Racist? Not judging from the letters referenced. There is not a single reference to race in either of them.

I feel that Mr Goode and others are unclear on the Judeo-Christian concepts. We triumph over fear and violence by showing those with an open mind a more satisfying path.
Many pious folk confuse honoring the message with honoring the messenger.

Virgil is a racist pure and simple. Jesus, spending so much time worrying about what book a man swears his oath on is an honorable cause? I think not…..especially for a politican.
